“Go for it!” Says Alex to those thinking of volunteering. “Find an organisation that aligns with your values and interests. It’s an opportunity to make a real difference and grow in the process.”
For the past year and a half, Alex has supported WCS behind the scenes in Corporate Governance, applying his background in social policy to review key documents, such as our Privacy Policy, and ensure we’re prepared for future reforms.
Drawn to WCS by our wide-reaching impact, Alex says every visit brings something new and interesting. “The people here are fantastic, and WCS is fortunate to have such a dedicated team.”
Alex also volunteers at St John’s Care, providing emergency relief. Through both roles, he’s seen the strength and diversity of the Canberra community.
“Volunteering has pushed me out of my comfort zone and given me a deeper appreciation of the resilience of others,” Alex said.
