It’s National Volunteers Week!
We’re kicking off this week of recognition and celebration with Chris, one of our creative and caring volunteers from our Aged Care Social Groups.
Chris has been volunteering with Woden Community Service for just over ten years. She first joined our social groups with her late husband, staying on after his passing, drawn in by the laughter, connection and fabulous people she met along the way.
Now, Chris supports our Tuesday group, whom she affectionately nicknames “the Ancients,” and brings her warmth, humour, and a lot of creativity to the room.
A passionate sewer, Chris has created everything from handmade “mug rugs” for morning teas during lockdown to book and game covers, as well as our Santa suit, which is still proudly worn at our Aged Care Christmas parties each year.
Thank you, Chris, for the joy, skill and heart you bring to WCS. We’re so lucky to have you as part of our community.
Here’s to a full week celebrating National Volunteers Week! Stay tuned to find out what we get up to. #NVW2025
