Sharing this feedback from a participant at the end of six weeks in the Southside Community Step Up and Step Down (SC SUSD) mental health program.
At WCS, we are solution-focused and recovery orientated, and we always seek to place a participant at the centre of everything we do. We are looking to give a shift in perspective, and when we get this right, phenomenal things can happen.
Everyone on our Mental Health Team strives to build a unique relationship with every person in our programs. People can really have an opportunity to explore what brought them to the program, and how they can use the opportunity to launch back into their lives and move towards becoming the person that they aspire to be. Our support workers see this crisis as an opportunity and treat this person as if they are the new, stronger version of themselves, with all the basic ingredients to grow into the ideal version of themselves.
An ACT Government-funded initiative, SC SUSD is located in a community setting and offers two weeks of residential and four weeks of outreach mental health support to people who are becoming acutely unwell, or who are in the early stages of recovery from an acute mental illness. If you’d like to access the program, visit https://www.wcs.372digital.com/services/mental-health/sc-step-up-step-down/ for more info.
